Migratory Bird Camp

Migratory Bird Camp is an annual event hosted by AITRC that brings together participants of all ages to celebrate traditional knowledge, develop outdoor skills, and deepen connections to the land. The camp provides a unique opportunity for community members to engage in hands-on activities, share cultural practices, and learn about the environment in a supportive and interactive setting.

This summer, Migratory Bird Camp will take place from August 8th to 10th, 2025, at Mile 7 on the Denali Highway. The camp is held around the same time each year, so keep it in your calendar! Activities

Participants immerse themselves in a range of hands-on activities, from learning fire-starting techniques and berry harvesting to practicing gun safety. The camp emphasizes sustainability with lessons on duck harvesting and processing, canoeing, and water safety. Traditional skills are explored through jam making, plant identification, and crafting survival bracelets, while guided bird walks encourage a greater appreciation for the local environment and wildlife.
